For more than twenty years, Sumitomo Canada’s railway products team has provided the highest quality products to meet the needs of the Canadian railway industry. We bring value-added products from around the world to industry leaders, including Bombardier Transportation, Canadian National Railway, and Canadian Pacific Railway, as well as other major railways, transit agencies, and car builders.

Japan's Nippon Steel has been the preferred supplier for rail since we began marketing their product in 1979. In addition to premium and super-premium rail for curved track, Nippon Steel's standard and intermediate rail can be found in Canadian track from coast to coast.

The Railway Department serves as the primary supplier of tieplates to the Canadian market through our affiliated company, Arkansas Steel Associates. Since entering the Canadian marketplace in 1998, ASA’s tieplates are preferred by the Canadian railway industry due to their consistently high quality.

Complementing rail and tieplates for track applications, we also offer high quality hardwood crossties from Malaysia.

Sumitomo Metals is the leading supplier of wheels and axles to Japan's famous bullet trains. The department has now developed a market to supply these products to our Canadian customers.

We have also introduced lightweight, high-quality intermodal containers made by CIMC of China to Canada’s intermodal transportation industry. CIMC is the world’s largest supplier of intermodal containers.
